Block Party 2012

There are a lot of new and exciting things going on at Las Maravillas II & III this week. The County has approved the operation and maintenance our street lights. We are also getting ready for our block party for this coming weekend. Carlos Perea has been working very hard cleaning the area around Marigold Avenue for days for the up coming event. Mike and Debra Bellinger has also been helping coordinating and getting everything ready for the block party. We would like to thank Kevin Lederer for taking time to make invitation letters for our neighbors. We also received money from our trustee Lib Johns to help us purchase food. Chili's restaurant will do a fundraising event for Las Maravillas and Delilah will let us know as soon as she gets all the information.

Because the block party is just a few days away, one of our resident has been cleaning Marigold Avenue, over the last couple of days, for the up coming event. Despite today not being a designated clean up day, some of our caring neighbors noticed the individual cleaning, by himself, and they started to help him. Pretty soon more people began to help until there were six or seven people working. It was really nice to see our neighbors notice the changes in our community and start to help us clean. We would like thank those that came out this afternoon to show their support.

Fundraising

Today I went to Denny's restaurant and asked them to help us raise some money to help our community. I am very excited to let you know the beginning of next year Denny's Restaurant will do a fundraising event just for the Las Maravillas community. I think this may be the best way to raise money to help us with our future expenses. I would also like to start a "Best home of the month award". I will ask local businesses to make donations or gift certificates for prizes for the winners. I think it is a very good idea to encourage every one to clean up their own place.

Clean Up Day.

Today we were hoping to finish cleaning the entrance of unit II but there are so many things that need to be done. Some neighbors helped us out and we would like to say thank you to Kevin, David, Charlie, Rick and the kids for working so hard today. It is nice to see new faces out there helping. We will continue to clean up tomorrow and I hope to see guys out there.

Block Party

Your GNA is planning a block party for Las Maravillas II & III on 6 October 2012. We are planning on getting several bouncers for the kids, as many fun events as we can get our hands on, music, and GNA along with generous residence will provide hotdogs, buns, condiments, a grill and water. You will need to bring anything else you would like to grill or drink. If you bring alcoholic beverages you are responsible to control their use as well as drink and act responsibly.We may be able to have a bon fire after dark as well if there is sufficient interest. We need more volunteers to help plan, coordinate and pull this event off!! If you would like to volunteer please contact anyone on the GNA Board of Directors.

Camino La Canada Ave.

Tonight Rick cleaned the Camino La Canada Avenue area; he started late but was able to finish cleaning that area. The Las Maravillas streetlight operation and maintenance issue was somehow dropped from the County Commission agenda for the 19 September meeting! It is now rescheduled for 3 October 2012, 9:30 am, at 444 Luna Avenue. Both Rick and Mr. Bruce Swingle will be monitoring the agenda to ensure it does not get removed again!

Marigold Blvd.

Today I checked out Marigold Boulevard and it looks a lot better than it has in years. Rick has been cleaning that area; unfortunately, he ran out of gas so he will complete the mowing this weekend. We are asking everyone to help by cleaning at least your own area to make things a little easy for all the volunteers. If anyone that wants to help the clean up this coming weekend please give us a call at 505-916-1130. I hope that some of you can make it and become part of the transformation of Las Maravillas. I will continue to keep you informed on what we are doing to make Las Maravillas a better place to live.

Artissima

Today Kevin was chipping branches and limbs while Rick continued to trimming the trees that are over grown in the neighborhood. The mess of branches and limbs in the entrance way to unit II is being chipped for ground cover mulch in an effort to save money. Please be patient because this is a labor intensive job and there is only so much that we can do since we are all volunteers. If you have time and want to help improve the appearance of our neighborhood, PLEASE volunteer to help!!

Welcome

Hello everyone, thank you for checking out our new website. Sorry for the delay in posting pictures, but we are still cleaning our community and I wanted to take the pictures after the areas are cleaned up. I will take more pictures very soon though. If any of you have suggestions please feel free to send me a message at lasmaravillasnm@gmail.com. We are still looking residences that are willing to help clean up the neighborhood.
